It was inevitable. Now that Justin is back in school, we are all sick with colds. For Zane, this means nebulizer treatments every six hours. It also means a temporary hiatus from oral feedings and some of his exercises. He has been coughing a lot with this cold, which seems to be causing him to vomit. At least we hope it is the coughing and not the dreaded return of full-blown reflux.
We’ve been through the respiratory illnesses and reflux issues before. We’ve been very fortunate that Zane has been well through 2009 until now. Hopefully, this cold will be short-lived.

Hoping Zane is feeling better soon. As we look to our second winter, I'm on pins and needles Alyssa did so well last year. New threats this year, flu..aaaghh. Quick question about Zane and reflux. What was he like when he had "full blown" reflux? Did he vomit often and if so how did you manage it? Drop me an e-mail or post.. I check in often

Susan,
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that you all have been sick, esp. little Zane. You know, when Morgan was that size he would throw up often with just a cold. They can't spit out all the junk they cough up, so they end up swallowing it and then vomit. Also, just having drainage in their throats can make them gag and that can lead to vomiting, too.
I hope you all get to feeling better soon. It is hard to take care of a little one when you aren't feeling the best yourself.
Take care,
Holly
Trish,
ReplyDeleteI guess my definition of full-blown reflux is throwing up profusely after almost every meal, which is what Zane used to do. Fortunately, he has only been throwing up once a day. I think Holly is right--it is the mucus coming up, causing him to bring up his food, too. He's been on Prevacid for the year now, which has worked wonders for him. I'll be by to check on Alyssa. She's so adorable!!!
