It’s been a rough week. Since Sunday, Zane has been
exhibiting repetitive behavior (something that happened earlier this year, but
ultimately resolved itself). In a nutshell, he vocalizes, plays air piano with
lots of jazzed up excitement, rolls his eyes back, and blinks. Repeat. All day
long. Into the night. He doesn’t sleep much. Therefore, we don’t sleep much
either.
He’s not himself. He doesn’t interact in his usual way—if he
interacts at all. He’s too caught up in the pattern.
After another sleepless night last night, I called the
neurologist today. The plan: observe him through the weekend. If the behavior
continues, Zane will have to be admitted to the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at the
hospital for 2-5 days. This involves EEGs and video assessment. Fun.
I’m thinking this needs to resolve itself. Zane is way too
booked to have to deal with a 2-5 day hospital stay. This month he has the
dentist, the orthopedist (for a follow-up), the audiologist, and the
cardiologist. We simply do not have time to squeeze in the PEMU.
hi susan--thinking of you and all zane and your family goes through each precious day---hang in there :)
ReplyDeleteSusan, how's Zane now? Did you end up doing the hospital stay and EEG? Totally understand about being all booked up at the same period!
