Fragility

Today has been a sad, sad day.

This morning at 9:00 am, Zane’s physical therapist called to let me know that one of the girls in his SLS (Special Ed) class died early this morning. We knew her. We know her family. They live in our small town. Zane skied with her, swam with her, and participated in library events with her. The whole thing is completely shocking and devastating, most of all for the family, but also for the community as a whole.

Personally, it is a reminder of Zane’s medical fragility. Sure, he’s tough. But he most definitely is not invincible. And all denial aside, he is more susceptible to medical drama than Justin is.

So hug your kids. Tell them how much they mean to you. We only have this moment. None of us is given the promise of tomorrow or even the next hour. That said, we absolutely have to cherish what we have; cherish those who are in our lives. They may not be here tomorrow.

My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this most painful time.

  1. So sad and yes, another unwelcome reminder. Love to you. Adding my prayers for this new angel's family.
